Let’s talk again on Thursday.
Paper planners and post-it notes are no longer useful in today’s fast-paced environment. In Outlook, use the Follow Up flags to create a thorough task list organized by day of action. When someone emails you and asks you to talk again on Thursday, flag the message for follow up on Thursday. If you set a deadline for someone, BCC yourself on the email, and then set a follow up flag to remind them of an approaching deadline.
Not only will this keep your inbox clear of pending items, it will -with little hassle- allow you to provide yourself with a custom to-do list each morning for that day’s objectives. As you complete items, mark them as Complete (or flag them for another follow up in the future) so they fly off your screen and are off your radar for the day.
